How to export a webpage table to Excel

If copying a web table into a spreadsheet leaves misaligned columns, start with a preview of the extracted rows. Smart Data Extractor finds tables in the loaded page and exports an Excel workbook.

Export a table step by step

  1. Install Smart Data Extractor and open the page containing the table.
  2. Load the rows you need on the website before extracting. The extension does not scroll or paginate for you.
  3. Click the extension toolbar icon to open the side panel.
  4. Choose the table from the suggested areas. If the suggestion is unsuitable, use manual area selection and confirm the selection on the page.
  5. Review the preview against the source. Rename or reorder columns, hide fields you do not need, and check empty cells.
  6. Choose Excel export and save the workbook. Open it in your spreadsheet application to check the result.

Excel, CSV or JSON?

Excel produces a workbook rather than a renamed CSV file. CSV is useful for importing a simple table into another tool; JSON preserves a structured representation for code. Select the format that fits your next step.

Why some rows may be missing

Each extraction includes up to 100 data rows and 40 fields. Only already-loaded main-document content is read. There is no automatic pagination, scrolling, detail-page crawling, iframe or website Shadow DOM extraction. Virtualized lists include only records currently present in the page DOM.

A table shown as an image or inside a PDF is not an HTML table. This extension does not perform OCR or read PDF documents. For virtualized tables, scrolling may replace earlier rows in the DOM rather than keep all rows loaded.

Check before sharing

Compare representative rows with the original table. Exported values may include personal information from the page, so review the file before sending it to someone else.
